What is Ceramic Coating?

What is Ceramic Coating? By its very definition, ceramic coating refers to the application of certain coatings to a material in order to create a protective layer that prevents damage from occurring to the surface of the material. The most common forms of protective coating are those that protect the finish of steel and glass items. This is because when they are exposed to the elements, these materials can become scratched and damaged, so a layer of protective coating is applied to them to deflect damage.

What makes ceramic coating so special and how does it provide protection? Ceramic coating is made up of silica (SiO2), which is derived from natural resources like sand and quartz. Some varieties and brands of this product will also add other substances to give the finished item a more attractive and durable coating. Many people like the decorative benefits that come with ceramic coatings. While most of these products provide some level of UV protection, others offer complete protection from harmful UV rays.

How is a Paint Job Protection Film Different? There are several different ways in which a paint protection film differs from a standard paint job for protecting steel and glass items. A paint job simply protects the steel or glass surface by applying a thin layer of paint over it. This paint job is not a fully protective method because it does not provide any sort of shield against the elements. Where a paint job provides some level of UV protection, a paint protection film offers complete protection against both damaging UV rays and normal everyday wear and tear.

Why is a Nano-ceramic Product Better? Nano-ceramic coatings are designed to work on stainless steel and other items where a regular paint job would deteriorate the object. The reason is that a nano-ceramic coating works from below the surface of the object. The film forms a protective layer that prevents damage from occurring on the surface.

How is it Different From Exterior Paint Damage? A common complaint of people who have been exposed to harsh chemicals and harsh working conditions is that the external paint damage ends up making their metals and other materials look tired and dirty looking. With a ceramic coating, you do not have to worry about this happening. While a normal coating will still work to protect against scratches and dirt, a ceramic coating has the ability to actually change the look of the material to make it appear new and shiny.

Benefits of Using a Ceramic Coating? What is a Ceramic Coating? One of the main reasons that companies are using a ceramic coating for their protective coatings is because of its great resistance to scratching. Scratches that occur when working with wood products can make a metal or wood item look dirty and old. With a high quality coating, this end effect is eliminated.

What is a Semi-permanent? The best part about a ceramic coating is that it can be used for years without having to be repainted or repaired. The protection of a durable coating means that you will be able to use your piece as long as you want and have no concerns about it ever need to be repainted. This long life comes from how a coating such as this can have a semi-permanent setup.

Why Use a Ceramic Coating? The protection that a ceramic coating provides is a highly desirable trait for any type of protective coating. When used for the purpose of protecting against water and moisture, a ceramic coating can provide protection from damaging particles and contaminants. When protecting against external paint damage, the effect is one that provides much longer lasting protection than that from using regular paint. These benefits make a ceramic coating the perfect option for many different uses.
