Are you wondering how to update tile without removing it? Hoping you can cover your tile floors cheaply? Here are 20+ beautiful peel and stick floor sticker tile options that are easy to install and easy to clean!

How to Update Tile Floors Without Removing Them

One thing I wasn’t crazy about when we purchased our South Carolina home was the kitchen tile. It just fell a little flat in the space, and I envisioned doing something a bit more bold. The kitchen had recently been renovated, so ripping out brand new, perfectly good tile seemed foolish, messy, and expensive. I looked into other options for updating the tile floors and did consider painting the tile but was nervous about the long-term implications of going that route. I finally settled on purchasing customized floor sticker tiles!

Are Floor Sticker Tiles Easy to Install?

I was incredibly nervous to install the tiles and thought for sure I’d waste a bunch with installations mishaps. This simply wasn’t the case. If you’ve ever installed wallpaper, then you will have no trouble at all installing floor tiles. The floor tiles are forgiving and can be repositioned if you did not align them the first time correctly. You can see my post Get the Cement Tile Look for Less: Peel & Stick Vinyl Sticker Flooring for more detailed information on how I installed my sticker tile.

Are Floor Sticker Tiles Affordable?

The best answer here is yes and it depends. Floor sticker tiles can range in price anywhere from $.30 sq/ft to $4 sq/ft depending on the tile. Overall vinyl floor sticker tiles are much more affordable than the cost of other flooring options, especially when you take into consideration the expense, time, and mess of removal of existing floor and installation costs of new flooring. However, if you need to customize the size and colors of your floor sticker tiles expect to pay more. My floor tile stickers were an unusual rectangular shape which was not a standard offering, and I wanted to customize the colors. Due to the customizations of my order, I paid $3.27/sq ft. That is admittedly a lot to pay for a sticker that is most likely only going to hold up for a few years! You have to view sticker floor tiles the same way you view wallpaper and decide how much you’re willing to invest.

Can You Clean Sticker Floor Tiles?

Yes! You can sweep, vacuum, and lightly mop your sticker floor tiles. I clean ours a few times every week and have been amazed at how well they have held up. I wouldn’t recommend pouring cleaner and water all over the floors to clean but a light mopping with moderate water works great. I use my bona mop and cleaner and it works like a charm.

Do Sticker Floor Tiles Scratch?

Sticker floor tiles will show normal wear and tear over time and may scratch. If you have furniture without pads on the feet that come in direct contact with the tiles, or if you slide heavy appliances over your sticker tiles, then they may scratch. I ordered extra tiles so that I could replace damaged tiles when needed. In two years, I’ve only needed to replace a few tiles where our barstool feet rub on them.

Are Floor Sticker Tiles Easy to Remove?

Yes! I have removed and replaced a few of our floor sticker tiles and they were easy to remove and left no trace of glue or residue on the tile.

How Long Do Floor Sticker Tiles Last?

I would say they can last (in good condition) up to five years in a heavily trafficked area and perhaps much longer in a low-traffic area. I have had my tiles for over two years now and they look beautiful.

Where can you purchase floor sticker tiles?

I bought mine on here on Etsy where I was able to customize the dimensions, pattern, and color. However, you can find floor sticker tiles both in-store and online at several retailers. I have affiliate linked my absolute favorites for you below!
