Grand Street Gardens

February 03,2022 by Jo Brown

We’ve been spending a lot of time at Grand Street Gardens recently for our deck renovation, to spruce up our building’s planter boxes, and just to explore . And at this year-round organic garden store there’s a lot to see…

Grand Street Gardens is a great local organic garden source and a bright spot on an otherwise bleak stretch of Grand Avenue.

Their selections of plants are primarily organic and local, which we really appreciate. They have a huge selection of types of plants – from the usual annuals and perennials, to shrubs, succulents, flowers, trees and vegetable seedings. There’s also a large variety of organic and earth friendly potting soils, fertilizers, and pest and weed control.

The store also has a large selection of decorative home goods, candles, ceramics, stationary, garden furnishings and even pet food.

For a boutique style garden store, the prices are very reasonable. We’ve even done some comparison shopping and found that most of the time they are less expensive than big box stores like Home Depot, and the quality is leaps and bounds better. There have been many times when we’ve walked in with a very strict budget for our building, but the staff was able to meet (if not come under) our budget and we’ve ended up with an amazing garden.

The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful with any questions and offers good suggestions for flower/garden arrangements. The one drawback is location – the store is a little bit off the beaten path and there are only a few parking spots. That said, we’ve never had a problem.

Check out their Garden Workshop Series , classes are $5-10 and topics range from “Grilling from the Garden” to “All About Tomatoes: Cooking, Canning and More” .
